The summer is upon us and I'm lusting over bright neons and super detailed, ethnic pieces reminiscent of an exotic vacation. This set includes Nasty Gal Shoe Cult heeled gladiators, Celine sunnies, and a Valentino clutch that's to die for.
The moment you walk into Kendra Scott you'll find yourself in a jewelry heaven. From super sleek, elegant pieces to bright, fun baubles, Kendra's got it all. And, thanks to the in-store Color Bar, if you don't see exactly what you're looking for, you can create it yourself.
This past week I had the pleasure of stopping by Kendra Scott at Scottsdale Quarter and doing just this–designing my very own creation at the Color Bar.
I'll take you through the whole design process and Color Bar experience with me!
Before I began crafting my design, I wandered around the store to get inspired, which was very easy to do being surrounded by so many amazing pieces. After a quick lap and a bunch of ooh-ing and ahh-ing I was ready to hit the drawing board.
On either side of the Color Bar are large screens depicting the image below, which serves as your design studio. This display allows you to play around with all of the settings and colors that Kendra Scott offers for their custom jewelry ranging from $45-$200. This is where you can let your creativity run free. I played around designing my piece for about 15 minutes playing with all of the options, until I stumbled across the Cara Ring. I loved the intricacy of the ring and thought it would be a really fun one to customize. While I love all of the colors and it was very hard to choose, I opted for a mix of turquoise magnesite and ivory pearl stones since it would be a very wearable combination with my wardrobe.
Once I had my piece designed it was time to watch it come to life. Yepp, that's right, all pieces are made right in front of you at the Color Bar! You get to pick out each stone and watch as they're set into place one by one until your creation is born. It truly is a one of a kind experience exclusive to Kendra Scott, and one that I would definitely recommend. In fact, you can even gather up a group of girlfriends and have a Color Bar party!
I'm so incredibly happy with my finished piece, I can't wait to show it off!
I'd also like to extend a huge thank you to the lovely ladies at Kendra Scott for having me in to the store for a fun-filled afternoon! I'd love to see everyone else's creations from the Color Bar!
Last Sunday my boyfriend and I spontaneously packed up the car and headed on a road trip to our favorite little getaway, my family's cabin in Flagstaff, AZ. It's always so nice to get a reprieve from the Phoenix heat, and something about the open road is just so liberating.
Accompanying me on the journey, was a piece from one of my favorite local brands, Knee Deep Denim. Knee Deep Denim, started by the lovely, ultra-inspiring owner and designer RaeAnn, features custom shorts, vintage treasures, and anything else you might need in order to complete your outfit including tees, tanks, scarves, vests, and a slew of accessories. Pretty much, it's your one stop shop for anything and everything. Also, they just recently launched their own line of KDD denim, made in the USA, which I am super excited about. And gentlemen, they've even got stuff for you.
Make sure to check out the Knee Deep Denim shop HERE and support a great friend of mine!
When throwing things in my suitcase for the road, I just had to include my Knee Deep Denim "Live Free" fringe tank. It completely embodies my free spirit and love of adventure, so it was perfect! My boyfriend and I pulled over in what I like to call Nowhere, AZ and snapped a few photos to share with you all. Enjoy!!
We've seen MAC collaborate with stars like Nicki Minaj, Lorde, and Rihanna, but this Fall America's favorite dysfunctional yellow family is joining up with the cosmetics brand. Yepp, to celebrate the show's 25th Anniversary The Simpsons will be getting their own makeup collection by MAC. While the collaboration is set to launch this September and no details regarding specific products have been given, it is apparent that Mrs. Marge Simpson herself will be the primary inspiration behind the collab. Although she's never been a stand out beauty icon of mine, we can all appreciate her daring, voluminous hairdo and big, bright eyes, right? Anyways, I'm sensing lots of blue and yellow here. Maybe a mascara to give us those perfectly shapen four lashes that Marge sports? Guess we'll have to wait and see, but this will definitely be interesting.
As promised, here's a look at my outfit from the Nordstrom's Spring Beauty Fashion Show.

This past Saturday, I woke up at the crack of dawn, grabbed a cup of coffee with friend and fellow blogger, Audree Kate, and headed off to Nordstrom's at Scottsdale Fashion Square for their annual spring beauty event. Before we even stepped out of the car, sounds of women screaming with excitement could be heard echoing through the parking lot. I knew right then that it was going to be a fun day. Upon arrival, we quickly learned that the screaming we'd been hearing was due to a stream of constant beauty giveaways, which continued throughout the entire event. If there's one thing that can get women out of bed at 7am on a Saturday, it's free beauty products.
Shortly after entering the store, we took our seats for the big beauty trend show, which showcased brands like Philosophy, Aveda, Dior, Nars, Smashbox, MAC, Bobbi Brown, and many more. Representatives and top beauty stylists from each company were flown in to speak at the event and showcase different products, as well as their favorite spring beauty trends.
It was a really cool experience to see a runway show that was focused on beauty instead of the typical fashion show. Although, the clothes in this show were all killer as well!
I chose to wear a Topshop romper and Windsor lace-up heels for the event. I'll be featuring this outfit on the blog in the next few days with more details so keep your eyes out!
After the show, we stopped by Yves Saint Laurent where National YSL Beauty Stylist, Armando, showed us his favorite makeup tricks and tips.
My favorite item was the YSL Kiss & Blush, which doubles as a lip and cheek tint. I tried a more rosy pink Kiss & Blush while Audrey opted for coral which really made her red hair pop.
Next, we headed over to another counter for an appointment with NARS National Make Up Artist, Raquel Grijalva, who gave me a look which incorporated all of her favorite spring beauty trends.
Here's the 'blueprint' to the look that she gave me! My favorite products were: NARS Luminous Moisturizing Cream, Blondie Eyeshadow, Abbey Road Liner, Olympia Contour Palette, and the NARS South Beach Multiple.
I'd like to thank Nordstrom's Scottsdale Fashion Square and all of the amazingly talented professionals for hosting such a great event. I look forward to stepping up my hair & makeup game and bringing you much more beauty-related content with the launch of my new blog, a la MILENA, this summer.
Be on the lookout!!
