So maybe it's just my obsession with any girl that can rock a badass fro, but I am LOVING what we've been seeing from Solange Knowles lately. If you aren't familiar with her as an artist, you may recognize her as Beyonce's younger sister or the bitchy cheerleader from Bring It On... but in my eyes, her style is what sets her apart. This girl is all about being bold. One second she's on stage looking like a sexy Bob Marley and the next thing you know she's on the red carpet looking chic as ever. No matter what the occasion, Solange knows how to play with colors and silhouettes and that's what makes her a style icon!
A delicate lace.
The way the light shines just before sunset.
A fringe statement bag.
The desert monsoons rolling in.
My favorite detail of all, this adorable watch from Urban Outfitters.
Makes me smile every time I look down at it and my thoughts flood with memories of my own world travels.
What I'm trying to get at here, is that when it comes down to it, fashion and photography alike, are all about details. A cute dress is always going to be a cute dress. But, get into the habit of thinking how details can take your outfit to a whole new level. Don't be afraid to accessorize and build onto whatever you're wearing. I found an old, rust colored, simple body-con in the back of my closet and thought, "Hmm, what can I do with this?" I layered a lace blouse over it, piled on the accessories, and came up with an effortless outfit! I see pieces such as this simple dress as a blank slate, the details that go into a look are really what draws the eye. Now, go play around with your own closets and see what you can come up with!

Things are really heating up in the Valley of the Sun, including the music scene. It seems like every time I look at the calendar there's a new festival or outdoor concert popping up. That is, if you're willing to brave the heat. No matter where you find yourself this summer, a good festival outfit is always a must have and this one here was inspired by all things summer. The look is simple but has fun details like a raised platform on the classic Chuck, a floppy hat in a pretty hue, and a pineapple because, well, it's summer!
Hope you all are having fun and finding ways to beat the heat!
Lately my online shopping addiction has gotten out of control. I'm talking about spontaneous 3am purchases and hours scrolling through endless pages of tantalizing fashion. However, thanks to one of my new favorite sites, ASOS, this bad habit of mine has helped me add some adorable additions to my closet without breaking the bank. My one pet peeve about online shopping is paying an arm and a leg for shipping, so one of the most appealing things about ASOS is the site's free shipping and returns to over 190 countries. This means you can buy and try with absolutely no worries! In addition to that, ASOS offers a 10% discount to all students through the site UNIDAYS. Asos carries the hottest brands in mens and women's apparel including brands like Cheap Monday, Steve Madden, Boy London, and their own fabulous ASOS brand which has become a new favorite of mine. Definitely check this site out, there's something for everyone. Cant wait to see what you guys find!
This Fourth of July I was lucky enough to find myself on the beaches of San Diego, specifically Ocean Beach. I drove west on a whim after discovering I had a little time off work, and am so glad I did. I couldn't think of a more perfect place to celebrate the holiday and get away for a week. I really didn't do much blogging/photographing over there (I was too busy shopping and beachin' it up, oopsies.) But, I thought I'd share this snap from the beach which was taken during our Fourth of July festivities. Kinda cheesy but I HAD to break out my flag onesie, it was just too perfect for the occasion.
