Fashion blogging has taken me to some interesting places, but on Saturday night it had me walking amongst the living dead at the official after party of the Zombie Walk in Downtown Phoenix. The event was held at the Gypsy Bar and featured the debut of the long awaited photo series: Zombie Apocalypse.
Creative Director Jake Rafus and photographer Dominic Arizona Bonuccelli have been slaving over this photo series for months now turning their gruesome zombie vision into a horrifying reality. After three separate photo shoots and tons of editing, the product was a collection of countless epic zombie shots that give the Walking Dead a run for its money. To accompany the photos they also developed a short documentary showing just how they turned a bunch of beautiful models into bloodthirsty beasts. It's quite fascinating.

Here's a look at some of my favorite shots from the series:
The venue was plastered with all of the shots from the series, but the zombie fun didn't stop there. Four makeup artists trained by the creative geniuses of SyFy's Face Off (a show all about special effects makeup) demonstrated their talents live on stage as they transformed models into some of the craziest zombies I've ever seen. My personal favorite was the zombie Miss USA who happened to impale herself on her own tiara. She was clearly having a bad day. After the zombies were all done up, guests had the treat of watching the fourth and final photo shoot of the series live in the arcade of the venue.
The Zombie Apocalypse was a huge success and I encourage you all to check out the photos HERE. Also, stay safe this Halloween weekend. I saw a lot of bloodthirsty zombies walking around Downtown Phoenix this weekend and I want you all to be safe. Seriously, I'm not kidding.
Easily one of my favorite places in the world is my cabin. When most people think of Arizona their minds are immediately filled with images of barren deserts and cactus... but let me tell you, those people have never been to Flagstaff. Just two and a half hours north of Phoenix is Flag, a cozy mountain town complete with its own ski resort and cool weather. It's the perfect weekend getaway and a few weekends ago I was able to take a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of Tempe to go and play amongst the trees. I just wanted to share a few shots that were taken at my cabin and point out that this outfit is also composed of some of my absolute favorite things:
Brixton Beanie (which I stole from my brother)
Ombre Specs (yes, they're my real glasses)
Obey Propaganda Tee (keepin' it OG)
Nollie Flannel (I'd wear it every damn day if I could)
DIY High Rise Shorts (vintage Express for a whopping $4 at Goodwill)
Classic Dr. Martens (finally broke down & bought a pair, soooo worth it)
In honor of the autumnal equinox today, I'll welcome fall by introducing yet another stand-out trend for the season: punk. Break out your leather, plaid, ripped up band tees, biker boots, chains, creepers, spikes, and studs cause this fall is going to be all about the punk rock vibes. Below you'll find all sorts of inspiration if you're looking to get your punk on, including a playlist!
"Bitch, don't kill my vibe", the anthem of my recent spring break trip to Venice Beach, CA, describes this look perfectly. A friend of mine snapped this pic of me chillin seaside on the Venice boardwalk by the infamous Venice skate park one afternoon and it pretty much sums up the vibez of the Venice scene. I picked up this killer beanie at Brandy Melville in Santa Monica and wouldn't take it off all week, along with my Lennon-inspired sunnies that I picked up on the boardwalk.
Beanie- Brandy Melville, Chambray- Bullhead, Sweater- Kirra, Shorts- Bullhead, Loafers- Target
Time to highlight one of my favorite trends, mixing two very unexpected styles; grunge and soft pinks with florals. This unexpected duo proves to make a surprisingly chic look, and you'll look majorly bad ass while rocking it. My personal style involves lots of mixing fun styles like this! Why choose just one when you could have the best of both worlds? Some might even call it... a match made in heaven.
Below I put together my favorite looks, but they also have high price tags attached! Keep scrolling to see how a fashionista on a budget can pull off this same unique look for loads less.
I rummaged through my closet and recreated this exact look for you, just with some practical pieces:
